Maintenance ElectricianThe Maintenance Electrician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of packaging and food processing equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility. This role focuses on electrical troubleshooting up to 480V, working with PLCs and HMIs, supporting automation systems, and installing and wiring new machinery to keep production running safely and efficiently.ResponsibilitiesPerform electrical troubleshooting on packaging equipment, including X-ray machines, blenders, mixers, baggers, labelers, ink jet coders, and heat shrinking machines.Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving motors and equipment operating at voltages up to 480V.Troubleshoot and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to ensure proper speed and motor control.Troubleshoot PLCs, including inputs and outputs, to identify and resolve control system problems.Edit PLC programs and controls as needed to support process improvements and equipment reliability.Use HMI programs to monitor, diagnose, and adjust machine operations and control parameters.Wire and install new machinery, including power, control wiring, and integration with existing systems.Replace, troubleshoot, and repair photo eyes and other sensing devices used in packaging and automation.Work with control systems and motor controls, applying heavy electrical experience to maintain safe and reliable operations.Support automation and packaging processes in a food and GMP-compliant environment.Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety procedures while working on food processing and packaging equipment.Essential SkillsProven experience in electrical troubleshooting of packaging equipment, including X-ray machines, blenders, mixers, baggers, labelers, ink jet coders, and heat shrinking machines.Strong electrical wiring and troubleshooting skills with systems operating up to 480V.Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), including troubleshooting and repair.Experience with PLC troubleshooting, including working with inputs and outputs.Ability to edit PLC programs and controls to support equipment operation and process changes.Experience using HMI programs for monitoring and adjusting machine operations.Experience in controls systems, motor controls, and heavy electrical work.Experience in packaging, food processing, or GMP-regulated environments.Practical knowledge of automation systems in a manufacturing setting.Mechanical aptitude to support electrical and electronic work on production equipment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with electronics in an industrial or manufacturing environment.Familiarity with conveyor systems and food processing machinery.Experience in clean manufacturing or similar regulated facilities.Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical aspects of automated equipment.Ability to adapt to a growing operation with new equipment and facilities.Why Work Here?You will join a rapidly growing organization that is actively expanding its footprint and investing in new facilities and equipment. The operation includes packaging machines, conveyors, and food processing equipment, all supported by modern automation and control systems. The facility is relatively new, with new equipment and a well-maintained, comfortable working environment. The position is on 1st shift with flexibility on start time, and you can expect to work around 40 hours per week while remaining flexible for call-ins as needed.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Portage, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $83200.00/yr.
