Job Description Job Description AI Agent Engineer — CollectWise Location: Manhattan, NY (Onsite) | Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000 | Equity: 0.25% – 1% About CollectWise CollectWise is a YC-backed startup using generative AI to automate debt collection in a $35B US market. Their AI agents are already outperforming human collectors by 2x at significantly lower cost. With a team of five, they have scaled to a $2M annualized run rate and are targeting $10M ARR within the year. The Role This role owns the full voice AI stack end-to-end. You will design and build real-time conversational agent systems that operate at production scale across millions of interactions. The role combines infrastructure engineering, prompt engineering, and applied AI in a highly regulated environment. What You'll Do Build and own voice AI infrastructure on top of LiveKit Design orchestration systems including state management, latency optimization, and reliability Own prompting strategy including conversation flows, tone, compliance-safe language, and edge-case handling Develop evaluation frameworks including A/B testing, regression testing, and KPI tracking Continuously improve voice agent performance using real-world call data and outcomes Optimize ASR, STT, TTS, turn-taking, and interruption handling Build scalable systems supporting millions of voice interactions Migrate legacy implementations to modern voice AI infrastructure Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to align technical systems with business outcomes What We're Looking For 2+ years experience in voice AI, conversational AI, prompt engineering, or speech systems 3+ years experience in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering Strong experience with Node.js, AWS, and SQL Experience building and shipping production systems in fast-paced environments Experience with voice orchestration frameworks such as LiveKit or similar Strong prompt design and conversational flow development skills Strong analytical ability to tie system performance to business metrics Excellent English communication skills required Must be based in or willing to relocate to NYC and work onsite No visa sponsorship available.
