Accountant

Slane Co.’s client, a growing heavy civil construction company in the Raleigh market, is seeking a Mid-Level Accountant to support the organization’s financial operations, job cost accounting, and project financial reporting across active construction projects. This individual will work closely with operations leadership, project managers, and finance teams to ensure accurate financial tracking, reporting, and forecasting while contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, and account reconciliations Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting Track and allocate project costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses Monitor project budgets and analyze cost variances Partner with project managers to support financial tracking and reporting across active jobs Review and process vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and client billing documentation Assist with progress billing, retainage tracking, and collections support Support annual budgeting and forecasting efforts Analyze financial data to identify trends, cost overruns, and opportunities for improvement Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal processes Support process improvement initiatives and optimization of accounting systems Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or project-based environments Experience with job cost accounting and construction billing methods preferred Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Collaborative communication style with both finance and operations teams Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA candidate preferred Experience with construction accounting software and job costing systems Familiarity with percentage-of-completion accounting and construction contract structures #J-18808-Ljbffr Slane Co.
