Job Description Summary The primary purpose of this position is to lead supply chain operations for Riverside Methodist Hospital Surgical Services Level 2 Trauma Center and to collaborate with similar positions across OhioHealth on Systemness opportunities and processes. Facilitate uninterrupted delivery of patient care through providing the necessary supplies, equipment, & services. Develop and execute supply chain objectives for the hospital and organization that continually increase operational efficiencies and maximize return on investment for supply chain assets. Assist in achieving clinical and financial objectives of RMH Surgery and OhioHealth relative to drug, supply and purchased service expense by optimizing procurement, distribution, inventory and transportation efficiencies. To proactively align RMH Surgery with system supply chain strategies in advanced logistical concepts, value analysis processes, coordination of applicable recalls and new product implementations. Responsibilities And Duties 30% Directs and oversees the inventorying, procurement, stocking and movement of medical supply carts/totes for the surgery department. Develops, implements, and monitors goals, budgets, policies and procedures. Assist in the preparation of long and short-term goals and objectives for supplies and equipment requirements in coordination with the hospital and system initiatives. Serves as the in-house subject matter expert for supply chain functions and provides guidance and leadership regarding supply utilization and expense to finance and surgical directors, managers, clinicians, and staff within the surgical department. Develops and provides metrics to members of the surgical team to document performance and effectiveness of the supply chain program. Provides support to finance and the surgical units in need of financial support in understanding inventory expense variances. Manages and removes product due to factors including but not limited to obsolescence, expiration, patient safety, recall, damaged goods and defectiveness staying within the requirements set by Healthcare governing bodies i.e. ODH, The Joint Commission n . 2. 15% Manages the logistics of new product requests from the hospital Value Analysis committees or other hospital approved clinical quality committees. This contains but is not limited to physician requests for trials on new product or technology, product conversions, recommendations for standardization, reconciliation and removal of obsolete product, facilitating the arrival, delivery and distribution of product/equipment. Provides communication of any key financial impact to finance and surgical operations. This process affects $ 2 9 5 Million in annual drug and supply expense for OhioHealth. 3 15% Serves as the department liaison to Surgery, Anesthesia and Sterile Processing Department, Physician Offices, Physicians, and vendor sales representatives. Creates and manages strong customer/supplier relationships resulting in superior patient care/safety. Identifies process improvement opportunities setting clear expectations, communicating effectively, and working through issues with high level of critical thinking. 4 20% Leadership responsibility for a team of 6 associates in a 24/ 7 surgical operation to ensure proper training, education and performance levels are being met. Elevates the performance of the team through formal and informal training measures. Through coaching, mentorship, active participation and modeled behavior, sets example of customer service for entire department of Supply Chain and surgical services. 5 10% Works with hospital Supply Chain Managers and System Director to drive systemness by optimizing the supply chain via logistics and distribution programs and processes that enhance practitioner and patient workflow and creates the most efficient system of delivery of supply chain assets throughout the network hospitals. This includes but is not limited to technology improvements and upgrades, process improvements and strategic planning for logistical process flows throughout OhioHealth facilities. 6. 10% Provide guidance on the management of implants prosthetics, tissue, bon e , supplies, instruments and equipment to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, guidance documents, and accreditation standards or codes from health governing bodies: Environmental Protection Agency EP a , Department of Transportation DO t , Hazard Communication Standard HC s including Material Safety Data Sheet MSD s , Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation AAM i , The Joint Commission TJ c , Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HIPA a , National Fire Protection Association NFP a , Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSH a , National Incident Management System NIM s , Hospital Emergency Incident Command Systems HEIC s . Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (Required) Additional Job Description MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree Field of Study: Logistics Field of Study: Operations Management Field of Study: related field. Years of experience: 5 to 10 SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE Degree in Logistics, Operations Management or other related business field and/or 10-12 years directly related Experience preferable in a healthcare hospital or IDN environment. Familiarity with specific department environment including product knowledge.
