Summary: Our award-winning client is seeking an Controls Engineer to join their team. We are seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to lead a team in designing conveyor systems for automotive manufacturing. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical design, PLC programming, and automation systems, along with experience in project management and customer interaction. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with automotive industry standards (GM, Ford, FCA) and a proven track record of designing and implementing conveyor systems. Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of electrical engineers in designing conveyor components and systems.
- Collaborate with project engineering and management to ensure accurate equipment specifications.
- Work closely with electrical and software engineers, as well as vendors, throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Participate in design reviews and customer job-site meetings.
- Travel to customer sites, vendors, and manufacturing locations for meetings and project oversight.
- Provide technical support to project managers, equipment assemblers, and site supervisors.
- Create and refine CAD designs for conveyor systems from concept to implementation.
- Assist with mechanical engineering and design tasks as needed.
- Strong understanding of 24V DC, 120V AC, 240V AC, and 480V AC electrical circuits, including single and three-phase systems.
- Expertise in VFD motor controls and automation systems.
- AutoCAD proficiency for electrical design and schematics.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, management, and project teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within North America, including Mexico (up to 25%).
- Background in conveyor systems for automotive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with GM, Ford, and FCA electrical control standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum three years of experience designing PLC systems.
- ePlan electrical design software.
- Allen Bradley Controls and Control RS Logix 5000.
- ArmorStart Motor Controllers and PowerFlex Drives.
- DeviceNet and Ethernet communications.
- PLC programming, including Control Logix and Guard Logix.
- PanelView programming for HMI interface development.
