About the Facility – Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System

The Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System (ECHCS) provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans across a wide region, including Aurora, Denver, Lakewood, Golden, La Junta, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Pueblo, Salida, Lamar, and Burlington. ECHCS offers a range of medical services such as primary care, specialty care, mental health services, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Veterans can access advanced diagnostic services, dental care, pharmacy services, and telehealth options, ensuring high-quality, accessible healthcare tailored to their needs. Medical Assistant - Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to take and record blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, and weight.
• Has the ability to annotate patient charts with vital signs, pertinent history, and level of pain. Alerts the provider of any acute issues stated by the patient.
• Demonstrates the ability to obtain routine specimens for laboratory analysis and perform standard tests. Ensures proper identification of specimens and delivers them to the laboratory, always ensuring the proper PPE requirements are met.
• The Medical Support Assistant will assist physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments. Acts as a chaperone when needed or requested by a provider.
• Demonstrates the ability to apply/remove bandages, binders, simple dressings, and hot and cold packs.
• Capable of performing electrocardiographs and notifying the physician of the results.
• The MSA will be able to assist patients with the proper use of oxygen equipment, ensuring a proper fit for a mask or cannula.

Medical Support Assistant - Requirements

• Education: A minimum of a High School Diploma.
• Experience: At least one year's worth of vocational training.
• Certification/Licensure: Must be a Certified Medical Assistant.
