Financial Accounting Analyst

We have an outstanding Contract position for a Financial Accounting Analyst to join a leading Company located in La Porte, IN.

Pay Rate:  $30 - $34 per hour

Job Responsibilities:  

• Prepare monthly journal entries from worksheets, maintainsdaily records for all inventory elements, performsmonthly reconciliations related to inventory reporting.
• Oversee metal receiving functions along with maintainaccurate daily records forall metal receipts to reconcile theactivity toinventory reporting and billings and book the necessary journal entries to record themetal receipt activity, which includes theappropriate cost variances (purchase price variances) for this activity.
• Maintain and update worksheet for Cast House monthly melting and casting activity.
• Record all activity by alloy and prepare and book the journal voucher for the activity.
• Review the activity for reasonableness and discuss significant variances with supervisor to obtain approval before posting the journal voucher.
• Participatesin the preparation of annual budgets for the departments by line item expense category.
• Ability to perform monthly detailed analysis of expenditures on a request basis, review all monthly general ledger activity for inaccurate andinvalid account usage and prepare adjusting journal entries to correct, and assist as required in special projects researching or compiling data that would be usedin current condition analysis or to satisfy an information request.
• Issue and maintain document controls of all Physical Inventory forms.
• Perform monthly reconciliation between Oracle and the AS400 system and prepare adjusting journal entries to bookto the general ledger Supportspreparation of company'sSelf-Assessment Tool and must have an ongoing working knowledge of procedures and policies in the self-assessment tool related to inventory and cost accounting.

Basic Hiring Criteria:  

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
• 2 +years of finance accounting experience includingjournal entry and reconciliation experience.
• Organizational, MS Office/Computer skills, sense of ownership.
• Excellent personal computer skills (software programsincluding Word, Excel andAccess) and practical knowledge of calculators.
• Excellent understanding of computerized reporting systems, query tools, and internal control.
• A systematic or organized approach to performing tasks with neatness, accuracy, and reconciliation.
• Individualmust be able to work on multiple tasks as well aswork for several individuals on a regular basis.
• Requires goodcommunication skills and abilityto perform and communicate financial analysis to support business decision making.

Desired Qualifications: 

• Experience in an operating/manufacturing environment.
