PLC Engineer for Control Automation Systems
PLC Programmers, designs, maintains and troubleshoots machines and plants that use programmable logic controllers. The PLC Programmer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the process. The PLC Programmer must be able to meet project timelines and could travel to maintain and upgrade software and hardware for customers in facilities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Experience: Ranging from entry-level graduate profiles to 3–5+ years of hands-on industrial automation experience
Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC programming, reading electrical blueprints, and understanding industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
Software Tools: Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider hardware and associated programming environments.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving under pressure and clear communication with plant crews and mechanical teams.
Program Systems: Write clean PLC code (like ladder logic or structured text) using platforms such as Rockwell Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal. Load PLC programs onto hardware and control configurations.
Design Hardware: Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools.
Cabling Hardware: Ability to read schematics and install cables to final System to perform testing
Build Interfaces: Develop Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and SCADA screens for operator control and diagnostics.
Test and Debug: Run simulation tests, check input/output signals with a multimeter, and resolve system faults. Record results and write test reports.
Commission and Support: Travel to client or plant sites for on-site installation, startup, and technical support
College degree in electrical engineering or industrial automation
Experience with 2D design software (AutoCAD / ACAD Electrical preferred)
Hands-on experience programming PLCs
Experience with Rockwell Automation, Allen Bradley or equivalent PLC devices
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply UL508A / NFPA79 / NEC standards
