Veterinary Technician - ER

Overview BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Lafayette. Payscale - APCA I - RVT I: $22.15 - $33.60 /Hr Responsibilities Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients. Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Calculate medical dosages (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. Mentor and train other co-workers. Address client concerns with patience and empathy. Why BluePearl?
