This position also prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials, provides imaging services, and utilizes four-handed dentistry. This position involves periodontal charting and instructs patients in oral hygiene and have a firm grasp of dental procedures. The Dental Assistant will professionally communicate with the Dental Assistant team, faculty, and residents, while providing exemplary patient care.**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSBILITIES*** Utilizes special solutions and sterilization bags; disposes of biohazard accordingly and maintains infection control* Prepares operatories and instrument trays for procedures for multiple disciplines* Reviews schedule for each discipline to properly prepare for the day; minimal periodontal charting* Cleans, oils, and sterilizes equipment* Performs other duties as assigned**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** Excellent communications skills* Team player and ability to multi-task* Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology* Ability to operate dental equipment* Ability to provide imaging services* Ability to maintain infection control and sterilization of dental equipment* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA policy**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*** High School Diploma or the equivalent* Six months of experience or training as a dental assistant**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*** Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.Starting at $18.00 per hour, with pay based on experience.**Function**Dental StaffScheduled Weekly Hours:40Saint Louis University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
