Head Coach, Softball

Overview The Head Coach leads the softball program at Roosevelt University, overseeing all phases of operation—including recruiting, coaching, budgeting, equipment, scheduling, travel, staff management, and student‑athlete academic support—to ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA, and GLAIC regulations. Responsibilities Student‑Athlete Engagement and Academic Success • Oversee academic progress, assist with retention barriers, and develop character‑building programming. Competition and Practice Management • Develop and manage competition and training calendars, design individual practice plans, evaluate outcomes, and lead the team during games. Student‑Athlete Recruitment • Build relationships with high‑school, junior‑college, and club programs; travel for in‑person evaluations; facilitate campus visits and maintain dialogue with prospective athletes. Program Management • Create and oversee the annual operating budget, manage purchases and reimbursements, coordinate all team travel, order and distribute equipment and uniforms, and ensure compliance with national and conference policy guidelines. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree 2–5 years of experience as a coach, participant, or related role Recruiting experience at the college level Prior head coaching experience (preferred) Prior coaching experience at the NCAA Division II or Division I level (preferred) Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail Strong judgment and discretion in forming and maintaining professional relationships Commitment to service excellence and embodiment of Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision Positive and professional demeanor Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Title IX Title IX Coordinator: Natasha Robinson, Auditorium Building, Chicago campus, 430 S.
