System AnalystEnd Client: New York City Department of Social Services (DSS)Duration: 30 MonthsLocation: Brooklyn, NY 11238Position Type: ContractHours Per Week: 35Interview Type: Webcasting (Camera Required)Scope of Project: DSS has a constant increased need for the provision of full systems life cycle applications development on various computer platforms, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, employment/work engagement services, claims systems, etc., that are critical to the operation and functioning of DSS programs, requiring periodic refinements to maintain the applications at optimum service levels. Having a project portfolio which properly reflects the user’s business needs and DSS’ workload is crucial. Therefore, there is a need for IT consulting resources for the expanding responsibilities at DSS.Key Responsibilities:Develop system design specifications and detailed systems operations designs.Develop and prepare technical documentation for solutions that meet system and security requirements, including evaluation of alternative approaches.Develop specifications for databases, communication systems, hardware, networks, security, storage, and software configurations.Develop structured diagrams for databases, communication systems, computer or storage area networks, security, and network programs.Develop, compile, maintain, and document configurations for databases, servers, computers, security and network monitoring systems, packaged programs, macros, utilities, and communication systems.Develop system documentation, operational procedures, and installation procedures.Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques for operational procedures supporting databases, hardware systems, operating systems software, network systems software, security, and client-server systems.Work with managers, senior programmers, support staff, product managers, and other staff to plan program implementations, enhancements, and changes.Create, test, and maintain program systems.Design reports, audit trails/logs, and security mechanisms.Provide technical assistance to support staff in resolving programming database, and IT issues.Contact customers as needed to clarify new feature requirements or resolve problems.Provide programming assistance to other programmers and projects as needed.Perform system testing and evaluation.Test programs and systems and integrate system modules.Required Skills:A minimum of 4 years of experience with the following skill sets:Writing application software, data analysis, data accessData structures, data manipulation, databases, design, programming, testing and implementationTechnical and user documentation, software conversionsExposure to environments include but are not limited to mainframe, mid range, personal computers, laptopsLead in the design of program specifications and the implementation of software solutions V Group
