Role Description The Japanese Language Expert role at Echo Family Office is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Chicago Area. This role involves providing high-quality Japanese–English translation for documents, correspondence, and reports, ensuring accuracy and cultural nuance. The individual will interpret spoken communication in meetings and calls, facilitate clear understanding between Japanese- and English-speaking stakeholders, and support language services for personal and business matters. Day-to-day tasks include drafting and reviewing written materials in Japanese and English, clarifying language-related issues for team members, and maintaining terminology and style guidelines. The role also requires close collaboration with internal staff and external partners, while handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Qualifications Strong proficiency in Japanese and English, with proven skills in Translation and Interpreting. Experience providing professional Language Services, including support for both written and spoken communication. Excellent Communication and Writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple language-related tasks simultaneously. Prior experience working in cross-cultural or international environments is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Japanese, Linguistics, Translation, International Relations, or a related field preferred. Familiarity with confidentiality requirements and handling sensitive information with discretion.
