Job Overview

Our organization is seeking an Inpatient Occupational Therapist to become a part of our dedicated team at a leading rehabilitation hospital. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Occupational Therapy license, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. In this role, you will conduct initial evaluations, reevaluations, treatment planning, implementation, and documentation for all referred patients, adhering to departmental and professional standards. You will also serve as a resource in your area of expertise, contribute to educational initiatives, and support staff development.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Evidence-Based Care: Provide patient care related to occupational therapy in compliance with accreditation standards, licensing regulations, and ethical practices. This includes evaluations, treatment planning, recommendations for Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and discharge planning. Educate and train patients and their families or caregivers, ensuring individualized care through sound clinical reasoning and timely documentation.
• Maintain Documentation Standards: Ensure that documentation accurately reflects the necessity for acute rehabilitation care, including patient and family education, treatment intensity, and duration. Adhere to documentation policies by producing clear and comprehensive reports, patient flowsheets, and other necessary documents promptly. Complete outcome data in line with departmental guidelines and manage patient schedules effectively.
• Engage in Team Collaboration: Actively participate in staff and team meetings, sharing insights for process improvements that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Take the initiative in pursuing continuing education for personal growth and serve as a mentor for new employees and students within the Occupational Therapy Service.
• Contribute to Program Development: Assist in setting and implementing goals and objectives for your program area as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or Management. Participate in educational programs and disseminate information to staff and students. Engage in ongoing clinical and administrative system development, data collection, and process improvement activities, including peer reviews and program evaluations.
• Support Treatment Guidelines: Aid in the development, revision, or review of treatment protocols in specialized areas as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor or Management. Serve as a Clinical Instructor for Occupational Therapy and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) students and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Demonstrated professional competency as a general practitioner in occupational therapy.
• Proven ability to independently utilize various evaluation and treatment methods.
• Possibly developing advanced competencies in specific areas of occupational therapy.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Compensation

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $74,214.00 - USD $134,596.00 per year .
