Job Title
Under general supervision, provides journey level duties in support of Camp Commerce programs including instructing, monitoring, and supervising arts and crafts programs, team sports, games, and other recreation activities.
Example Of Duties

- Oversees Camp Commerce guests, and enforces rules and safety standards; leads program activities, and assists participants in recreation activities and special programs; reports and resolves complaints, requests, safety conditions, and security issues. Duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Instructs, monitors, and supervises arts and crafts programs, team sports, games, and other recreation activities at Camp Commerce; organizes sports, hikes, and other exercise activities; maintains discipline at indoor and outdoor recreation facilities.
- Instructs various arts, crafts, games, and sports explaining the rules and techniques for each activity; evaluates performance of participants in instructional programs and assists with skill improvements; provides youth with the opportunity to learn life skills and subject matter skills in a physically and emotionally safe setting; reports unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries.
- Supervises and leads children and youth of various ages in diversified recreational based programs; monitors behavior and resolves issues; ensures that supplies, equipment, and facilities are in order, and recommends any necessary repairs or supply needs to the supervisor.
- Provides information and assistance to visitors and guests; resolves problems and customer service inquiries within scope of authority.
- Operates transportation vans in accordance with all traffic laws, regulations and procedures; maintains order among passengers, and handles volatile situations according to procedures.
- Performs daily vehicle inspection and cleaning prior to beginning service; ensures that all required written reports are completed and submitted on a daily basis including inspection reports, incident reports, accident reports, and operational problem reports; identifies and reports vehicle problems requiring additional maintenance and repair.
- Assists in maintaining general appearance of Camp facilities by cleaning areas in and around the facility, arranging equipment and any other general maintenance duties that may be required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent GED. AND One (1) year of recreation program experience, preferably experience in an organized camp setting.
Special Requirements
Required Licenses or Certifications: Must obtain Class C with passenger endorsement within 90 day of appointment. Must possess First Aid and CPR certification. Special Requirements: Must be available to work during camp operating hours including evening, weekend, and holidays. May be required to work overtime. Must maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards. Requires occasional travel. Must pass a background investigation.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) The City pays 100% of the monthly premium for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Standard Insurance Company's Health Advocates for all City employees and their eligible dependents and household members. Easy Eight Trip Reduction Program Employees are eligible to participate in the Easy Eight Trip Reduction Program. Employees who carpool eight (8) days in a month are eligible to receive $25 per month for ridesharing / carpooling.
Additional Benefits
- Paid holiday for Christmas Day at the rate of 6 hours of paid holiday time. In addition, part-time staff who works on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day and the employee's own birthday, shall be paid double time for hours actually worked in lieu of holiday pay.
