Family Law Attorney

Senior Associate / Senior Attorney – Family Law Litigation Montgomery & Howard Counties, Maryland Family Legal Advocacy Group is seeking an experienced, motivated litigator to join our firm as a Senior Associate or Senior Attorney . This is an opportunity for a lawyer who is ready to take their practice to the next level—with greater independence, meaningful responsibility, and the support of a strong team OR a solo lawyer who wants to focus more on practicing law and less on the business side and be part of a supportive team. Who We’re Looking For We are seeking a senior-level attorney who: Has solid litigation experience in Montgomery County and/or Howard County Is confident managing cases with autonomy, but in a team setting Is collaborative, prepared, and professional in and out of court Promotes settlement when possible, but will litigate when needed to protect the client Values high standards, strong advocacy, and balanced practice This role is ideal for someone who: Wants mentorship and trust (not micromanagement) Wants to take their practice to the next level with more independence OR Has been a solo practitioner and would prefer to focus on practicing law rather than running a firm, while being part of a supportive, well-structured team The Role You will manage a meaningful caseload of complex family law matters, including contested custody, support, and property division cases. You will: Independently handle hearings, settlement conferences, and trials Strategically manage cases from intake through resolution Collaborate with partners and team members on complex litigation Contribute to firm growth and culture We value preparation, sound judgment, professionalism with opposing counsel, and strong courtroom presence. Qualifications Licensed and in good standing in Maryland Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience (8+ years strongly preferred) Significant experience practicing in Montgomery and/or Howard Counties Strong writing, analytical, and courtroom skills Demonstrated ability to manage cases without supervision Interest in growing professionally within a collaborative firm environment Bonus: Admission to the District of Columbia Bar is a plus, as we are actively growing our family law presence in DC. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. This position starts at $100,000 for a Senior Associate up to $140,000 for a Senior Attorney, plus bonus depending on book of business.
