Lead Teacher Overview Position Title: Lead Teacher Reports To: Center Director / Assistant Director Department: Early Childhood Education Position Summary The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. The Lead Teacher plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum, guides assistant teachers, and ensures that all classroom activities meet state licensing standards and center policies. Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and implement lesson plans that promote early learning and school readiness. Integrate creative, hands‑on activities that encourage curiosity and exploration. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each child. Child Supervision & Safety: Maintain constant supervision of children, ensuring their safety and well‑being at all times. Follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements. Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment. Classroom Management: Model and promote positive behavior guidance and conflict‑resolution techniques. Establish a warm, respectful classroom culture built on trust and consistency. Support smooth daily transitions and routines. Family Communication: Build positive relationships with parents through daily communication and periodic conferences. Provide updates on child progress, developmental milestones, and classroom activities. Collaborate with families to support each child’s growth and learning. Team Collaboration: Supervise and mentor assistant teachers or aides assigned to the classroom. Work closely with other teachers and administration to maintain program quality. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and developmental records. Ensure all paperwork is completed in accordance with licensing and center policies. Observe, document, and assess children’s development regularly. Qualifications Minimum 45‑hour DCF training (Florida) or equivalent state requirement. CDA or higher credential in Early Childhood Education preferred. Minimum of one year experience working with young children. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
