Summary

VBC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Vice President of Project Management (VP, PM) to lead VBC’s Project Management function across all US projects from design through delivery. This role will oversee the portfolio of VBCs planning, execution, and delivery of multiple, large‑scale design, and manufacturing projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The VP, PM will build and scale systems, processes, and operating rhythms that support VBC’s growth and drive operational excellence across US sites. This role requires deep expertise in construction project management, large‑scale capital project delivery, and strong familiarity with manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate is a strategic operator who can drive accountability, lead a high‑performing team, and partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

• Lead the full lifecycle of large, complex construction and modular manufacturing projects, from planning and scheduling through closeout.
• Oversee all project delivery activities including budgeting, forecasting, risk mitigation, quality assurance, schedule management, and customer satisfaction.
• Establish project governance frameworks, decision‑making models, and communication standards to ensure consistency across teams and locations.
• Provide project health visibility to the Executive Leadership Team through dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting.

Risk Mitigation & Compliance

• Develop and enforce a comprehensive risk management framework across all projects, including proactive identification of schedule, scope, cost, safety, quality, and supplier risks, with clear mitigation plans and escalation thresholds.
• Implement project governance standards that ensure compliance with building codes, permitting, inspection requirements, modular manufacturing standards, and third-party certifications.
• Oversee contract compliance and ensure alignment with client agreements, specifications, change-order processes, and insurance requirements in partnership with Legal and Finance.
• Partner with EHS to integrate safety protocols, job hazard analyses, and factory-to-field risk controls into the project lifecycle.
• Establish robust documentation controls, including auditable processes for submittals, RFIs, quality records, change tracking, cost forecasts, and closeout packages.
• Drive cross-functional compliance alignment with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to maintain configuration control and minimize rework.
• Monitor regulatory changes that impact manufacturing, construction, modular installation, transportation, or workforce requirements.
• Lead post-project risk reviews and incorporate lessons learned into process improvements.

• Champion a culture of compliance, accountability, and transparency across the Project Management organization.

 

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Project Executives, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Coordinators across multiple sites.
• Create a talent pipeline and career planning strategy for the Project Management organization.
• Set clear performance expectations, drive accountability, and foster a culture of ownership, high standards, and continuous improvement.

 

Process Improvement & Scalability

• Design and implement scalable project management systems, SOPs, and cross‑functional workflows to support VBC’s growth.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Construction Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to streamline handoffs and improve project velocity.
• Introduce best‑in‑class project controls, scheduling tools, documentation standards, and risk management practices.

 

Cross ‑ Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Operations to align project delivery with production capacity, material availability, and factory throughput.
• Coordinate with Engineering on design freeze, change control, and constructability requirements.
• Partner with Supply Chain to ensure procurement visibility and mitigate impacts to project timelines.
• Collaborate with Finance on forecasting, margin targets, and project financial planning.

 

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the executive sponsor for key customer accounts and high‑visibility projects.
• Monitor client satisfaction, manage escalations, and ensure expectations are clearly defined and achieved.
• Represent the Project Management function during board reviews, progress meetings, and external inspections.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• 12+ years of progressive project management experience leading large, complex construction projects (commercial, industrial, multifamily, modular, or manufacturing‑centric projects preferred).
• 7+ years in a leadership capacity overseeing multi‑site or multi‑project teams.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑value projects safely, on time, and within budget.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable systems, project controls, and operational processes.
• Experience working within or adjacent to a manufacturing environment (modular, prefab, industrialized construction strongly preferred).

 

 

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of construction project sequencing, scheduling (Primavera, MS Project), budgeting, cost control, and contract administration.
• Deep understanding of construction contract management, negotiations, and control with an expectation to participate in setting up contracts as well as successfully executing them.
• Familiarity with ERP/PDM systems and factory‑integrated workflows.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret KPIs and drive data‑driven decisions.
• Experience managing projects in excess of 200 units or $50,000,000 – multiple projects simultaneously (directly or indirectly via reports) preferred.
• Remote management of teams and remote interactions with cross-functional leaders and support staff.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field required.
• Master’s degree (MBA, MS Construction Management) preferred.
