Compensation Data: The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. The expected pay range for this position is between $18.00 per hour and $28.00 per hour. If you are hired at American Water your compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, candidate's program year, discipline, and degree. Primary Role: Join California American Water as a Business Development Intern and gain hands-on exposure to the strategic processes behind identifying, securing, and integrating acquisitions. Based out of our Sacramento office, this internship offers the opportunity to work alongside a fast-paced, fun team while gaining exposure to a dynamic and essential industry.

Key Accountabilities:

• Gain firsthand experience in the full spectrum of business development activities, including acquisition strategy, research, and integration planning.
• Support the BD team in organizing and maintaining SharePoint documentation for improved efficiency and accessibility.
• Assist in compiling and organizing testimony and regulatory documentation related to acquisitions.
• Help develop and maintain a public-facing database of affirmative acquisition references to support future growth initiatives.
• Conduct research and prepare reports to support a wide variety of items including acquisition evaluations and strategic planning.
• Assist with databases and other reporting tools to compile, calculate, track, and report data pertaining to various processes.

• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and database tools.

• Collaborative: Willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams.

Experience/Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of completed coursework.
