Bus Aide
Conway Public Schools

Qualifications:


A. High School diploma or GED
B. Must be able to pass all criminal background checks as required by the district.
C. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
E. Must possess the physical ability to assist students.



Reports to:
Transportation Supervisor



Terms of Employment:
The contract length each year will be for 178 days.



Evaluation:
Based on district policy and Department of Education guidelines and performed by the transportation supervisor.



Job Goals:


To assist the bus driver and students for the safe operation of buses and transportation of eligible students of the Conway Public School District.



Essential Function of the Job:

1. Assists the bus driver in loading/unloading students, which may include operation of lifts, locking wheelchairs, securing seat belts, etc.
2. Assists the students in following the directions of the bus driver.
3. Assists the driver in the personal care and management of students.
4. Assists in checking safety equipment daily, prior to starting the route, and ensures proper working condition of all safety equipment.
5. Checks all restraints and wheelchairs securing students safely in place.
6. Assists in keeping the bus clean.
7. Assists the driver in enforcing the rules and regulations for the safety of all students.
8. Assists the driver with behavior issues and helps to maintain a safe and orderly atmosphere on the bus.
9. Is familiar with all aspects of the assigned bus route and assists substitute bus drivers.
10. Follows all established rules, guidelines, policies, procedures and practices of the Conway Public School District.
11. Follows the job-related instructions of the bus driver.
