Responsibilities:

Draw blood specimens from patients accurately and safely, following established protocols and safety guidelines.

Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and handling.

Verify patient identity and demographic information, including obtaining patient signatures post-venipuncture for specimen labeling verification.

Maintain clean and safe work environments, adhering to OSHA and company safety standards.

Communicate procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, creating a trusting environment.

Maintain thorough records of all specimens collected, including documentation of patient interactions and specimen labeling.

Support laboratory and clinic team members by performing duties with professionalism and efficiency.

Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy in all tasks.

Be flexible and adaptable, covering multiple locations and working additional hours—including weekends and holidays—as required.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development initiatives to stay current with best practices in phlebotomy and patient care.

Required Skills:

Proven expertise in phlebotomy, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Ability to provide error-free, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in specimen handling and documentation.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating teamwork.

Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if travel is necessary.

Proficient in keyboard and data entry to accurately record specimen and patient information.

Knowledge of safety procedures, infection control, and confidentiality regulations.

Nice to Have Skills:

Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related healthcare training.

Phlebotomy certification (preferred but not mandatory; certification required in certain states).

Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Customer service experience in retail or service settings.

Flexibility to work variable hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Prior experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

Knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices in a clinical setting.

Other Requirements:

Ability to travel between multiple clinical and patient service locations with minimal notice.

Flexibility to work additional hours, including weekends and holidays, as staffing needs dictate.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform venipunctures, and handle specimen transport.
