Automotive Diesel Technician

Responsibilities Perform work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately, meeting Lithia and manufacturer standards. Diagnose and identify the cause of malfunctions. Complete all work in accordance with applicable safety requirements. Road‑test vehicles to verify repair quality. Accurately record repair time using the company time‑clocking procedures. Document work performed on repair orders and record test procedures/results. Maintain an inventory of normal mechanical tools—including screwdrivers, wrenches, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels, and punches—and return special tools to their proper place. Use shop supplies and materials efficiently and economically. Keep the workspace organized and clean, completing a stall cleaning each day. Complete all required training and stay current with manufacturer and ASE certifications. Participate in and apply technical training assigned by management, and review technical bulletins and related publications. Communicate constructively with dealership personnel to meet customer needs. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency. Excellent communication skills. Passed manufacturer training and capable of performing repairs in the following areas without supervision: lube and maintenance services, diesel engine experience, engine repair, suspension/steering repair, brake repair, electrical/electrical systems repair, heating and A/C repair, and engine drivability diagnosis and repair (optional). Manufacturer certification in all listed areas. Customer pay proficiency level greater than 105%. Three to five years of automotive technical experience.
