Nursing Assistant OR - PRN

Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:
- Provides quality patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Answers all call lights on a timely basis.
- Assist with the admission process of a patient.
- Assist with transfers of patients, including but not limited to, in and/or out of bed, into a wheelchair, and to the toilet.
- Understands correct body mechanics and attends a back safety in-service once a year.
- Utilize assistive devices during transfers, i.e. gait belt, lifts, if needed, for all dependent patients. Always be informed and have knowledge on the equipment you may be using. Follows the care plan at all times. May use a more restrictive piece of equipment if it is necessary; notify your registered nurse of the use. Always use a lift to assist patient up if a fall has occurred unless directed differently by the registered nurse.
- Provides proper care of equipment.
- Follows universal precautions including isolation guidelines.
- Collects and labels specimens and takes them to the lab.
- Ensures proper use of walkers, canes, wheelchairs, and Aqua-K pads.
- Ensures the proper use of safety equipment and side rails.
- Cleans spills immediately and notifies housekeeping when required.
- Rinses soiled laundry before placing in the soiled linen room.
- Follows the patient's care plan as defined. Documents in Powerchart or FirstNet all ADLs and personal care.
- Informs the registered nurse of any noticeable changes in patients.
- Removes all defective equipment from the patient care area and reports to appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for stocking AC/ED rooms each shift and as needed.
- Performs bedside blood glucose checks as directed by the RN/provider.
- Performs EKGs as directed by the RN/provider.
- Transports patients to Radiology as needed.
- Covers Cardiopulmonary pager as scheduled and as needed.
- Performs vital signs on IVT patients and obtains consent signature for treatment.
- Cleaning and autoclaving of instruments.
- Completes supply order twice a week and as needed, and puts supplies away when they arrive.
- Assists the RN, Medical Response and Code teams as needed and directed by the RN/provider.
- Completes monthly room, cart, and equipment checks as assigned.
- Must maintain a current CPR card.
- Participates in quality improvement measures and patient satisfaction goals within the unit and facility.
