Security OfficerAs our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime.Every day you will effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property, all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional vigilance, strong observational skills, proficiency in electronic surveillance and dispatch systems, and a commitment to protecting our community while upholding our organizational values and contributing to a secure environment.Job responsibilities include patrolling on foot and by vehicle the facility and grounds, regulating parking by employees and visitors, giving directions and assisting with minor vehicle problems, providing escorts for employees, providing security coverage in the Emergency Department, directing traffic as requested, transporting persons to facility services as required, providing courier services as needed, locking and unlocking doors as provided for or as required, backing up staff on all stat calls, participating in all fire and disaster calls, stat pick up of medical supplies from/to other facilities, logging visitors and issuing passes, patrolling all patient care and waiting areas, logging in and releasing patient valuables in cooperation with Admitting, conducting lock down and opening up procedures at designated times, logging all activities in daily log to accurately record events of shifts, informing the Supervisor/Manager/Director of Security regarding any circumstances or situations that have or may have serious impact on the hospital, supporting and adhering to Security Department policies and procedure guidelines, serving as Officer-In-Charge of the scheduled shift when requested by Supervisor, maintaining current knowledge of new methods, products, trends, and practices in hospital security and emergency management, reporting unsafe acts or conditions to the Lead Officer in a timely manner, escorting suspicious persons without lawful business at the hospital from the property, recognizing an escalation/de-escalation of force situation when confronted with the threat or initiation of force and making the correct decisions without direct supervision, responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner using due regard and exercising Safety Protocols at all times, assisting employees, visitors/guests, and medical staff when a need exists to call the police, making reasonable judgments that consider the factors of an incident prior to taking action, minimizing liability to hospital at all times, effectively prioritizing calls for assistance, responding to service calls in a timely and prudent manner, safely and courteously performing traffic control/parking duties as required, issuing parking citations as necessary in accordance with parking policies, safely and courteously maintaining the hospital main entrance and ER lobby free for normal traffic, monitoring security alarms and dispatching officers promptly to location(s) where a security problem has been noted, using appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location, completing clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner, demonstrating communications skills to include: age sensitive awareness, accurate listening, proper and polite speech, correct grammar and comprehensible writing, assuring confidentiality by disseminating information only on a need-to-know basis, completing training programs as required, using the fire extinguishing equipment when necessary, satisfactorily completing the Workplace Violence training course on an annual basis, maintaining a familiarity with hospital disaster response plans, responding to Emergency Codes in the prescribed manner, maintaining current knowledge of the location of Emergency equipment, supplies, and emergency operation locations, maintaining Security Department and Patient confidentiality, and reporting incidences when breach of Patient confidentiality is witnessed or reported, satisfactorily completing the Annual Update program, and attending at least 75% of all Department Staff meetings.Job requirements include a High School Graduate or equivalent or three (3) years' experience as a security officer, upon hire and six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service, or one (1) year experience as a security officer. Driver's License: KY, upon hire and Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days.
