Associate Underwriter, Primary Casualty Large Commercial, USRMLos Angeles, CAU.S. Risk Management has an exciting opportunity to join the West Zone underwriting team. AXA XL provides customized risk management programs for major businesses and institutions operating in the U.S. Underwriters have deep expertise and broad authority for quick execution. Your focus is to establish robust relationships internally and externally and to act as the critical interface between our brokers, clients and the company. You are expected to continuously contribute towards improving our current working and underwriting practices.As Associate Underwriter, you will support the Underwriting team and act as the owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts. The Associate Underwriter will perform front-to-end activities throughout the life cycle of renewal and prospect accounts from submission to expiration with Underwriting oversight.This role will report to Head of West, Primary Casualty.What you’ll be doingWhat will your essential responsibilities include?Review, evaluate risk, and assesses completeness of the underwriting package before underwriter is required to review. Communicate directly with Brokers on to collect account and insured information necessary for risk analysis.Perform and apply knowledge of line of business specific product underwriting rules and/or guidelines for support of submission in preparation of further analysis for quoting stage.Collaborate effectively with Underwriters, Brokers, and internal units within AXA XL to manage the status and workflow of multiple tasks and accounts.Communicate account status to ensure completion of outstanding subjectivities needed to execute policy issuance and premium collection as part of bound accounts.Set up manual rating (workers compensation, automobile and general liability), complete and submit CAT modeling. Develop initial pricing (LST and APT), basic coverage structuring, quotation, and binder packages of the risk. Manage the workflow of multiple tasks and maintain a detailed understanding of the status of various tasks owned by Underwriters, Brokers, and AXA XL internal network.Communicate account status to ensure completion of all tasks including premium collection as part of bound accounts.Collaborate and correspond verbally and in written format with internal and external contacts across the country, keeping in mind differences in time zones, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.What you will BRINGWe’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:Required Skills and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree or related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Analytical, negotiation and sales/marketing skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent customer service focus is a must.Adept interpersonal skills in order to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups.Proven prioritization and time management skills with accurate results.Organizational, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.Robust collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.Advance level of proficiency with Word, Excel (other spreadsheet applications), and Powerpoint. The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD (67,400 - 112,400). Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location.
