Senior Counsel, Employment

Overview Light & Wonder’s corporate team supports the enterprise with essential services. The Senior Counsel, Employment joins the global Legal Department and reports to the Associate General Counsel for Data Privacy and Employment. This role carries broad responsibility for employment and labor matters across the United States and Canada, with exposure to gaming regulatory and compliance matters unique to the industry. Responsibilities Employment & Labor Law Counseling : Advise on the full range of employment and labor law matters in the United States, including hiring, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, investigations, compensation and benefits, discipline, and terminations. Draft and provide guidance on employment, compliance, and safety and security policies and procedures. Regulatory & Administrative Matters : Advise on and support responses to administrative charges and proceedings before federal and state agencies (EEOC, DOL, NLRB). Monitor developments in federal, state, and local employment law and assess impact on policies. Employee Relations & Investigations : Counsel management, HR and compliance on employee relations matters, including investigations of workplace complaints, harassment, and misconduct. Negotiate, analyze, and coordinate the resolution of pre-litigation claims. Contracts & Documentation : Negotiate, draft, and interpret agreements implicating labor and employment law, including restrictive covenants. Training, Compliance & Policy Development : Assist in the development and delivery of employment-related compliance training. Global & Cross-Functional Support : Partner with the Associate General Counsel for Data Privacy and Employment to oversee a global team of immigration specialists; advise on employment-related issues in Canada. Culture, Engagement & Inclusion : Champion the company’s values and support a culture of inclusion and belonging; operate with ethics and integrity. Other : Travel to regional locations estimated at less than 20% of work time; adhere to health and safety requirements; perform other duties as reasonably required. Qualifications Education/Certification : Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar. Professional Experience : At least 6 years of relevant employment and labor law experience at a national law firm, in-house, or a combination. Demonstrated expertise in employment litigation, including drafting pleadings and motions, preparing statements before the EEOC, responding to NLRB proceedings, and managing discovery, with emphasis on ESI discovery. Experience advising on a broad range of labor and employment matters. Preferred : Immigration matters experience; experience with data privacy in the US or internationally; Canadian labor and employment experience; federal judicial clerkship is a plus. Knowledge & Skills : Exceptional written and oral communication; sound judgment and practical business-oriented legal advice; ability to work independently and manage competing priorities; collaborative with internal clients and external counterparts; experience managing outside counsel, litigation strategy, staffing, and budgets. Office Requirements & Compensation The Legal Department requires a minimum of four days per week in the office. This position is based in Las Vegas, NV, with consideration for candidates near Alpharetta, GA or Chicago, IL. Remote arrangements may be possible for exceptional candidates. Targeted pay range: $175,000–$200,000, with potential annual incentive bonus. Compensation considerations will reflect skills, experience, geography, and market data.
