About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1 year of L&D experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS (AHA) AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring BLS (AHA) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have: Must have 1 year of L&D experience. Trained in LDRP. Ability to triage and function as a baby catcher/transition nurse. Description: Position involves working in a Labor and Delivery unit. The nurse will care for pregnant women and newborns. Must follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios as much as possible. Charge nurse duties may include taking an assignment. There are no surgical techs or nurse aids on this unit. OBs are not in-house but have a 20-minute response time. Anesthesia is in-house during regular business hours and on-call after hours. RT may not always be available during deliveries but pediatric staff can attend if needed. Self-scheduling is allowed, but may be adjusted for unit needs. Weekends and half of winter holidays are required. No call or standby requirement. Scrubs are not provided and there is no color requirement for attire. Charting is done through an electronic system. The unit supports a low volume of births, averaging 200 per year. Must be comfortable with titrating drips, including Pitocin. Candidates do not need to circulate C-sections or manage post-op GYN patients.
