Experienced Equipment Operator / Property Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Ridge Valley Services LLC is seeking an experienced, dependable, and mechanically inclined individual to perform a wide variety of property maintenance and improvement services.

Our work includes commercial mowing, landscaping, tree and storm cleanup, snow removal, light construction, and equipment-related projects.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, operate equipment confidently, and take responsibility for completing jobs safely and efficiently with minimal supervision. This position will often involve working alone, although a helper may be provided for certain projects.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, hands-on individual with strong mechanical aptitude, practical experience, and the ability to adapt to different types of work.

Primary Responsibilities

• Commercial mowing and landscape maintenance
• Operating skid steers, compact track loaders, and other equipment
• Tree work, brush removal, and storm cleanup
• Snow plowing and seasonal property maintenance
• Light construction and general property improvement projects
• Operating boom lifts and performing work at elevated heights
• Performing routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
• Pressure washing
• Shop maintenance, organization, and material handling
• Planning and completing assigned jobs independently
• Occasionally directing and working alongside a helper
• Other property maintenance and equipment-related tasks as needed

Required Equipment Experience

Applicants must have previous experience and be capable of safely operating:

• Skid steers and compact track loaders
• Commercial zero-turn mowers
• Boom lifts
• Manual-transmission pickup trucks
• Trucks pulling equipment trailers, including safely loading, securing, backing, and maneuvering equipment

Additional Skills and Experience

Applicants should have some practical experience with:

• Welding and basic fabrication
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
• General construction and power tools
• Basic masonry experience
• Working safely on ladders and roofs

Expert-level knowledge in every area is not required. However, applicants should have strong mechanical aptitude and be comfortable performing a variety of hands-on tasks.

Ability to Work Independently

This is an important part of the position. The successful candidate must be able to:

• Arrive at a job site and complete assigned work without constant supervision
• Make practical decisions and troubleshoot problems as they arise
• Operate and care for equipment responsibly
• Manage time and work efficiently
• Recognize safety hazards and know when additional assistance is needed
• Communicate clearly regarding job progress, equipment issues, and materials needed
• Work productively alone or with a helper

General Requirements

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to drive a manual transmission
• Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable working safely on ladders, roofs, and elevated work platforms
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Good judgment, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Flexibility regarding changing job assignments and work schedules

Schedule and Hours

This position offers an anticipated workload of 24–40 hours per week , depending on the season, weather conditions, customer demand, and project schedules.

As a small property services company, our workload naturally fluctuates throughout the year. Applicants should be comfortable with some variation in weekly hours and job assignments.
