Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the MedSurg unit. This position will be focused on providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient-centered care.

Job Details

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Shift: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 1 year (2 years preferred)
• Patient to Nurse Ratio: 1:5
• Common Diagnoses: Primary surgical, orthopedic, trauma, elective surgeries (including total joints, bariatric surgeries, and general surgery), and COVID-negative patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, assessment, and treatment to patients in the MedSurg unit.
• Utilize clinical skills to monitor and evaluate patient conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• May be required to float between multiple locations as needed.
• Participate in orientation and training for new staff members.

Qualifications

• Education: Must hold a valid RN license.
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS certification required.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of MedSurg nursing experience required; 2 years preferred. First-time travelers will be considered if they have 5+ years of MedSurg experience.
• Charge Experience: Recent charge nurse experience within the past year is mandatory.

Additional Information

• Call-outs are strongly discouraged and may impact employment status.
• RNs will not be required to titrate drips; no monitored beds are available on the unit.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: Rotate with core staff.
• Self-scheduling is allowed, pending manager approval to ensure balanced staffing.
• Orientation will include both classwork and on-the-floor training.
• Scrub color: Navy (undershirts must also be navy).
