The Liquidity, Market, and Capital Risk Oversight ("LMCRO") team is seeking a motivated candidate for a Senior Associate position. LMCRO is a second line of defense Independent Risk Management ("IRM") function responsible for oversight of the company’s measurement and management of risks across the stress continuum, including liquidity risk, market risk-taking and management, capital measurement, stress testing and capital management, and recovery and resolution planning. This includes regulatory stress testing (e.g., CCAR, ILST, and other resilience analysis), regulatory requirements (e.g., 165(d), Basel), overall liquidity, market, and capital risk management frameworks, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Ability to apply strong judgment and problem solving in areas of ambiguity
• Experience with design, implementation, and oversight of risk governance and control frameworks
• Experience using AI tools such as Gemini and Claude to automate and improve the day to day processes being run within a team as well as improve analytical capabilities for the organization
• An understanding of the banking system, financial market concepts, and the regulatory environment
• Strong foundational understanding of finance and broader macro economics
• The ability to communicate complex topics to a wide range of audiences

Specific responsibilities, but are not limited to:

• Leverage AI solutions to develop automated risk, control, and regulatory compliance assessment and analysis tools and support the team’s oversight processes
• Ensure LMCRO’s governance frameworks are implemented and executed upon appropriately, interacting with and influencing a wide range of stakeholder groups
• Drive our team’s governance, process, and control assessment program by engaging with our first line partners to assess their governance processes and control environment, and advise on potential areas of improvement
• Understand and analyze financial market developments and changes to the regulatory environment for key impact analysis
• Provide analytical support for research, analysis, and independent risk management in various areas of LMCRO’s oversight, including Resolution and Recovery Planning, Regulatory Capital, Liquidity, and Market Risk
• Strategically drive consistent approaches across liquidity, market, and capital risk management oversight frameworks

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience
• At least 2 years of experience in risk management, compliance, governance, or controls

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in banking industry or equivalent financial services firm
• Comfortable using AI tools (Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT) to enhance productivity and workflow efficiency
• 2+ years of experience in risk management or capital markets
• 1+ years of experience in bank stress testing, interest rate risk, trading operations, or liquidity risk management practices or regulations

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $111,200 - $126,900 for Sr. Analyst, Capital Markets & Risk

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
