Job Summary :
Assists the HS/EHS teacher in the 0-5 classroom setting in providing a child-focused learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, and other staff.
- Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents.
- Assists with the planning of an individualized curriculum.
- Delivers and assists in lessons and activities.
- Ability to relate to children participate in creating an enjoyable atmosphere.
- Co-teaches with lead teachers, aides, and classroom volunteers.
- Responds to emergency situations, such as first aid and conflict management.
- Assists in following through with individualized intervention plans.
- Assists in implementing individual and transition plans for children.
- Have knowledge of and adhere to the Head Start Performance Standards and program policies.
- Fulfills the role of the lead teacher in his/her absence.
- Supports diversity in the classroom and workplace.
- Coordinates work schedule to meet the needs of the program.
- Attends all regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Attends all meetings, workshops and/or conferences as assigned.
- Develops a professional development plan to support career goal.
- Job responsibilities may vary depending on the program model, site needs, and locations
Qualifications :
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of a high school diploma/GED
- Successfully complete the Child Development Associate (CDA) program within BVCAP time guidelines accordance with Federal Head Start Performance Standard 1302.91(e)(3)
- Must be able to obtain CPR & First Aid certification within 30 of employment.
- Position is contingent upon the successful completion of a federal background check
