Utilities Technician
The Airfield Electrical Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems that support airfield navigational aids. This role focuses on systems such as runway lighting, taxiway signage, visual glideslope indicators (PAPI), rotating beacons, and mid to high voltage equipment, while also performing extensive concrete and civil construction work in an outdoor airfield environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair airfield electrical systems, including runway lights, taxiway signage, and visual glideslope indicators (PAPI).
- Work on mid to high voltage electrical systems that support airfield navigational aids.
- Install, troubleshoot, and service airfield lighting systems and related underground utilities.
- Perform concrete work, including setting forms, pouring, and finishing concrete for airfield infrastructure.
- Assist with utilities construction, including conduit installation, wiring, and underground utility work.
- Operate construction equipment such as mini excavators, skid steers, and trenchers as needed for projects.
- Install, maintain, and repair high-mast lighting and other airfield lighting structures.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards, quality expectations, and project specifications.
- Interpret and follow technical documentation and guidelines related to NAVAIDS and airfield systems.
- Collaborate with project teams to complete new construction, upgrades, and maintenance at active and new airfield sites.
- Travel to various project locations in the southeastern United States and work on-site throughout the project duration.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment, and complete required documentation and reports.
- Provide responsive and professional service to customers while representing the company’s commitment to integrity and quality.
Essential Skills
- 12+ years of experience in electrical, airfield systems, or closely related work.
- Hands-on experience working on airfield systems.
- Experience with concrete forms, pours, and concrete finish work.
- Experience with underground utilities, conduit installation, wiring, and utilities construction.
- Proficiency and understanding of Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI).
- Familiarity with Very High Frequency (VHF) omni-directional range systems (VORs).
- Ability to work safely on mid to high voltage electrical systems.
- Experience with airfield lighting systems, including runway and taxiway lighting.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the southeastern United States.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on active construction and airfield sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating a mini excavator, skid steer, and trencher.
- Experience in high-mast lighting installation and maintenance.
- Experience in electrical repair and construction environments.
- Prior exposure to NAVAIDS and on-site airfield systems work.
- Comfort working on both new construction projects and upgrades to existing facilities.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing project needs and travel schedules.

Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based in outdoor environments, working on active airfields, new construction sites, and existing facilities undergoing upgrades. Technicians work in all weather conditions and must be comfortable performing physically demanding tasks in varying climates. The position requires regular travel to various states in the southeastern United States. Typical shifts run Monday through Thursday with 10-hour days, with occasional Friday or Saturday work as project needs require. During travel weeks, the team meets at the office, travels to the project site on Monday, and returns home after the last shift of the week, with weekend work being rare. The work involves frequent use of construction and electrical tools, mid to high voltage systems, concrete equipment, and machinery such as mini excavators, skid steers, and trenchers, all within a safety-focused, professional field environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baxley, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
