Floral Associate

STANDARD HOURS/WEEK 40 (approximate), typically Monday-Friday during standard business hours; however, the schedule is largely dictated by client needs and may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays. CLASSIFICATION Part-time, non-exempt TRAVEL Work will be primarily out of the branch, and at client locations. Out of town travel due to client needs may be required, depending on job specifics. Job Summary / Essential Functions Floral Associate supports the daily operations of the floral shop by greeting customers, processing orders, creating basic floral arrangements, preparing and conditioning flowers, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the shop is clean and organized. Their main goals are to provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, assisting with product selection, and process sales transactions. The Floral Associates serve as the front line of customer service to greet and assist customers in person, via email, or on the phone with sales of floral products, gift items, and live plants, using a Point of Sale (POS) system. They will provide customer consultations to select appropriate flowers and accessories, provide advice based on occasion and budget, take customer orders, process payments, and ensure accurate record-keeping of orders and delivery information. They will also participate in floral preparation conditioning and preparing fresh flowers for arrangement, which includes cutting stems, watering, and placing them in buckets, creating, assembling arrangements according to design standards and customer specifications under the direction of the Floral team. Floral Associates will also assist with receiving deliveries, checking inventory levels, ensuring the shop is stocked, keeping the workspace, tools, and entire shop clean and organized, including sweeping floors and washing buckets, and providing delivery support by loading, delivering, and unpacking floral products. Floral Associates may also be required to assist with physical setup and breakdown of floral and decor arrangements at events to assisting with flower preparation, packing, loading, and delivery, setting up large-scale floral installations and other decor. Knowledge, Abilities And Skills Excellent communication & customer service skills for interacting with customers and understanding their needs. Possess creativity and an eye for detail to help design and create beautiful floral displays. Organizational Skills for managing inventory, maintaining a tidy workspace, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously. A genuine interest in flowers, plants, and floral design is a strong asset. Willingness to collaborate effectively with a team and follow management direction. Be adaptable and flexible to make adjustments to arrangements based on unexpected changes, or specific client requests. Ability to handle delicate flowers and use tools like knives, scissors, and wire snips. Eagerness to learn the trade and grow within the shop. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to be clear and concise via phone, email, and in person effectively interact with staff, customers, and other departments. Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation required. Physical Abilities Requires standing for long periods and working in cooler temperatures due to the storage of fresh flowers. Able to work steadily at a computer for long periods of time. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your hands, arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials for a prolonged period of time. A steady energy level, and a calm demeanor. Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. Able to operate hand, and power tools. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs without assistance. Able to frequently climb and descend stairs and ladders and to work safely at heights. Able to perform all essential functions with, or without reasonable accommodations. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires employees to work in a wide variety of work environments including in extreme heat and cold. Loud noises, both sustained and sudden, are common in some environments. This position also works in a typical office/retail environment where frequent interruptions are common.
