Harmony Square (Memory Care) Director

The Harmony Square (Memory Care) Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Harmony Square neighborhood.

Responsibilities include conducting interviews, orientation, coaching, and ongoing training of Harmony Square team members in accordance with associate training standards and regulatory guidelines. The director will supervise and direct Harmony Square team members in conjunction with the Healthcare Director. They will develop, plan, and implement purposeful resident programs to enrich the lives of residents and families within the community as well as through outside trips and events.

The director will partner with the Life Enrichment Director to hold monthly planning meetings to prepare for upcoming monthly programs and coordinate supplies. They will also partner and coordinate with the entire program team to complete planning forms, organize supplies, plan calendars, events, and outings for the upcoming month. The director will develop, plan, and implement a monthly program of activities and supplies based on the dimensions of wellness, Reflections signature programs, and person-centered interests for the Harmony Square neighborhood.

Additional responsibilities include leading three to four high quality, innovative programs per day, planning and scheduling weekly outings, and continuously assessing resident needs in partnership with the community clinical team. The director will participate in Resident/Family Care Conferences and the Family Call Program as directed by the Executive Director. They will utilize and connect with local community resources, develop relationships and connections with residents and families to encourage participation in programs and events, and maintain a stimulating environment that promotes safety, security, and overall well-being in collaboration with the clinical team.

The director will maintain the Behavior Expression process, ensure all aspects of dining are met through partnership with the Director of Dining and Healthcare Director, and complete state required care plans and service plans for Harmony Square residents in conjunction with the Healthcare Director. They will partner with the Alzheimer's Association and other local organizations to schedule, organize, and participate in Support Group meetings monthly, complete necessary training and insurance requirements to drive company vehicle, and demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to coordinate care across disciplines.

The director will complete daily and bi-weekly neighborhood rounds, lead and organize daily huddles, attend monthly programming calls, promote a culture of teamwork and team member appreciation, establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all departments, and effectively communicate with resident families by responding to questions/concerns promptly. They will complete all required courses in adherence with state regulations and Relias Learning.

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements include an Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent educations and/or experience; areas of study: recreation, activities, geriatrics, and dementia care. Three to five years' experience working with individuals with Dementia including leading programs, managing behavior expression, and educating staff and families on Alzheimer's and Dementia is required. Special certificates: Dementia training or Certified Dementia Practitioner preferred or eligible for certification. Must maintain applicable state requirements of dementia specific training. Strong organizational and time management skills, experience supervising and managing staff, critical thinking skills, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, experience organizing, conducting, and planning programs and activities for seniors with Dementia, experience with Behavior Expressions redirection and interventions, must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record, and ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays are also required.
