About the Role The ideal Firearms Specialist will have vast firearms knowledge and extensive gun‑handling experience. Familiarity with long guns and pistols is critical. This experience may be from prior retail, hunting, or collecting firearms. The Firearms Specialist is responsible for all aspects of managing the firearms department, including driving profitability through buying, selling, and loaning firearms. Responsibilities Complete all 4473 forms (when present) and ensure compliance with ATF guidelines. Maintain the store’s FFL status in good standing. Evaluate the value of firearms presented as collateral. General management of the store’s firearms and firearm accessories, including merchandising, pricing, inventory controls, and evaluation. Adhere to firearm compliance, including appropriate certifications, gun book, 4473, NICS and/or other federal/state agency forms. Meet or exceed financial targets set for the firearms department. Establish meaningful and respectful relationships with customers. Train Team Members on proper handling of and transactions involving firearms. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year of customer service/sales and firearms experience. Knowledge of federal/state firearms regulations. Ability to pass a criminal and ATF background check and drug test. Strong negotiation talents and an engaging personality. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, with excellent judgment, time‑management and prioritization skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build solid ongoing customer relationships. Experience with 4473s (a plus). Sales background (a plus). Bilingual (a plus). Adherence to all Company policies, procedures, and regulations.
