Speech Language Pathologist - IRP

Overview

Speech Language Pathologist - IRP at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. This position is part of the Internal Resource Pool (IRP) Rehabilitation team, providing inpatient rehabilitation services, primarily to the James Cancer Hospital CCCT and UH acute-care hospital, with potential assignment to Dodd Hall. The role focuses on patients with stroke or other neurogenic disorders, brain injury, orthopedic problems, burns, amputations, or chronic pain. The therapy staff reports to the Rehabilitation Manager as part of a collaborative care team.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and establish plans of care; provide a wide variety of treatment techniques; educate and support patients and families; and facilitate continuing care planning.
• Evaluate quality of services and participate in outcomes management activities.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation team members and supervise rehab assistants and aides; coordinate with attending/resident physicians, nurses, Case Managers, and other care staff to assure coordination of services.

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified Speech Language Pathologist; master’s degree from an accredited institution (minimum); must be cleared through the National Database of Practitioners.
• Educational/certification requirements established by the profession; typically 1-2 years of medical setting experience is preferred.
