Physical Therapist – Outpatient (Travel)
Seeking a traveling Physical Therapist to join an outpatient rehabilitation team in Kilmarnock, VA. The clinician will provide skilled therapeutic interventions for geriatric, orthopedic, and neurologic outpatient populations, including post-operative joint replacements and post-stroke care. The role emphasizes evaluation, individualized treatment planning, therapeutic exercise, modalities, balance and gait training, patient and caregiver education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Active Virginia physical therapy license required prior to start.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Experience in outpatient orthopedics and neuro populations preferred; will consider new graduates.
- Experience with outpatient modalities and equipment such as cryotherapy, heating pads, TENS units, antigravity devices, and parallel bars preferred.
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary outpatient rehab team and follow facility documentation and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hospital-affiliated outpatient clinic preferred.
- Certifications such as OCS, NDT, or specialty credentials preferred.
- Temp-to-perm interest is preferred but not required.
Assignment Details
- Shift hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Workdays: Monday through Friday.
- Travel candidates only; candidate must be 50 miles outside of facility.
- May be asked to pick up a weekend shift occasionally to accommodate weekday time off.
- Outpatient clinic attached to the hospital; may require coordination with inpatient or other department staff as needed.

Impacting Patient Care
Provide high-quality outpatient physical therapy services to maximize patient functional outcomes. Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Participate in documentation, discharge planning, patient education, and department quality improvement activities. Maintain professional competency through continuing education and in-service participation.
