Senior System Safety Engineer

System Safety and Software Safety Engineer Location: Tucson, AZ – Onsite Security Clearance: DoD Secret, active after day one Responsibilities Develop and implement MIL-STD‑882E‑compliant system safety programs (management task series 100, analysis series 200, evaluation series 300, verification series 400). Analyze engineering software and/or firmware per MIL‑STD‑882E, JSSSEH, AOP‑52, and related standards. Collaborate with software development teams to review and analyze software code. Work with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through deployment, ensuring concurrence on software builds. Assist with software and/or firmware analyses and with execution of the Software System Safety Program. Interface with stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors. Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval. Participate in software safety technical reviews. Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards. Collaborate across multiple disciplines to understand product architecture and design. Prepare internal and customer reports on relevant analyses. Manage System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and customer representatives. Work on Special Access Programs where required. Qualifications Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in System Safety Engineering, System Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or Safety Engineering in aerospace, automotive, or medical device sectors. Experience with risk assessment concepts per MIL‑STD‑882E / DO‑178. Active or existing DoD clearance preferred. Experience developing and implementing MIL‑STD‑882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses. Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (MIL‑STD‑882 / DO‑178). Experience in Agile Development environments. Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and proposal development. Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration and Human Factors Engineering (MIL‑STD‑1472). Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Review Boards, and Safety Working Groups.
