This role supports integrated care delivery by offering counseling services, health promotion activities, and care coordination. Working as part of the Behavioral Health team, the BHA helps ensure continuity of care, supports patient access to services, and contributes to improved mental health and wellness outcomes across the community.Key ResponsibilitiesSupports the organization's mission, goals, quality standards, and patient-centered medical home philosophyDemonstrates KANA's core values of Courtesy, Caring, Respect, Sharing, and Pride in all interactions and activitiesUpholds KANA's Code of Ethics through professional, ethical, and respectful conductDevelops therapeutic relationships with clients based on empathy, trust, and professionalismProvides individual, family, and group counseling services for children, adolescents, adults, and elders within scope of certification and experienceConducts substance use disorder assessments and may facilitate treatment groups as assignedParticipates in clinical supervision and incorporates feedback to improve care delivery and outcomesCollaborates with the Behavioral Health treatment team, including Case Managers, Intake Coordinators, and other staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered servicesSupports behavioral health services across Kodiak and village communities, including managing caseloads as assignedParticipates in Village Response Teams (VRT) to provide behavioral health and crisis intervention supportAssists with organizing and participating in health promotion activities and substance-free events, including community programs such as Health Fairs, Spirit Camp, and Family Recovery CampsProvides community education through presentations, outreach, and distribution of health information materialsOffers informal behavioral health support through community engagement, including outreach to individuals not yet connected to formal servicesPrepares and submits required reports and activity documentation in accordance with grant and program requirementsMaintains accurate and timely clinical and administrative documentation to ensure compliance with KANA, State of Alaska, Medicaid, and regulatory standardsSupports patient access by assisting with appointment communication, reminders, and addressing potential barriers to careAttends required staff meetings, supervision sessions, and training programsCompletes required coursework and practicum hours to progress through the Behavioral Health Aide certification levelsParticipates in outcome-informed care practices, including Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM), supervision, and feedback integrationPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent and six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCompletion of an approved program leading to progressive certification as a Behavioral Health Aide/Practitioner (BHA/P) through the Community Health Aide Program Certification Board within the approved timeframe after hireWork ScheduleKANA's standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (8.5 hours on site per day).All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work.
