Phlebotomist I Location: 1919 South Wheeling Avenue, Tulsa, OK Contract Duration: 3+ months Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM-5:00 PM Vaccination: Hepatitis B TB MMR T-DAP Varicella Color vision is required Job Summary The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist with various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Perform blood draws and specimen collection. Label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. Perform decontamination and update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture/blood-drawing process and other specimen collection procedures, such as urine or fecal collection, as required. Demonstrate proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Review and understand physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Verify all test requisitions and computer labels against the appropriate script to ensure accuracy. Package specimens for transportation. Store specimens at the required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes. Accurately label specimens and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transportation. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training sessions. Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries, as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required. Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. 0-2 years of relevant experience.
