Internship Details Location - Remote Compensation - Unpaid Start Date - Immediately About the Project OPI’s Data Privacy & Governance Hub is an initiative dedicated to tracking and analyzing developments in digital privacy, data protection, and related regulatory frameworks. The Hub examines emerging news stories, policy initiatives, technological developments, and regulatory actions that raise important questions about how personal data is collected, used, shared, and governed. Through regularly published research briefs, the Hub highlights the privacy implications of current developments and places them within broader policy and governance debates. Its coverage includes consumer data protection, artificial intelligence and privacy, biometric data collection, digital surveillance, data breaches, corporate data practices, and evolving privacy legislation and enforcement actions in the US and internationally. Position Overview OPI is seeking Interns to support its Data Privacy & Governance Hub. Interns will contribute to the identification, research, analysis, and publication of timely developments in data privacy and digital governance. Working at the intersection of technology, law, and public policy, interns will monitor emerging privacy issues, assess relevant regulatory and legislative developments, and prepare concise, evidence-based briefs examining their implications for individuals, organizations, and policymakers. The position offers practical experience in policy monitoring, open-source research, regulatory analysis, and public-facing policy writing. Qualifications * Current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in public policy, international relations, law, cybersecurity, information science, technology policy, or a related field * Demonstrated interest in data privacy, data protection, digital rights, emerging technologies, or technology governance * Familiarity with US or international privacy legislation and regulatory frameworks, including the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or other data protection laws, is preferred * Prior research experience (academic, policy, or professional) is a plus * Ability to distill complex policy topics into clear, accessible messaging * Experience conducting open-source research, policy monitoring, or legislative and regulatory analysis is a plus * Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment How to Apply Please send your resume and cover letter to .
