Summary
St. Cloud VA Health Care System is seeking a Physician – Hematology/Oncology to serve Veterans at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) locations in Brainerd, Alexandria, and Montevideo. This full‑time position is based in Alexandria, MN, and requires at least 75% travel among the clinics. The role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
Qualifications
- United States citizenship; non‑citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited under VA policy.
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school.
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
- (Optional) One year of post‑medical‑school training (internship or transitional year) approved by ACGME or AOA followed by two years of independent practice under a full license in the U.S.
- OR non‑U.S. residency training followed by at least three years of independent practice under a full license in the U.S., performing duties related to the position.
- Residents in approved ACGME/AOA programs who meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent basis.
- PRPs are not independent practitioners and have a limited scope of practice under supervision.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology.
- Physical requirements: heavy lifting (45 lb or more) and moderate carrying (up to 45 lb). Ability to reach, use both hands and legs, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and coordinate mentally and physically. Near vision correctable to 13–16 inches to Jaeger 1–4; far binocular correctable to 20/40. Hearing adequate with aid permitted. Mental and emotional stability essential.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Full‑time position at Alexandria, MN with at least 75% travel among the clinics.
Duties
- Advocate for a Whole Health System of care across the VHA Midwest Health Care Network.
- Provide consultation services and follow‑up for Primary Specialty Medicine patients within the designated field at the St. Cloud Health Care System or affiliated CBOCs.
- Participate in special projects pertinent to the sub‑specialty as they arise.
- Provide clinical oversight and review for mid‑level providers as a supervising or collaborating physician.
- Submit timely documentation and enter progress notes for all patients seen.
- Maintain quality of care that meets professional standards and work within privileges at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
