Helper - Mt. Vernon

Genesis is currently looking for helpers to work with our client in Mt. Vernon, TX, that works in the environmental/waste industry. The Residential Helper teams with the Driver and assists in the collection of waste and/or recyclable material. This is full time work paying $17.50/hr., Monday - Friday. Must be able to start work each day at 5:00am.Responsibilities
Six (6) months of prior work experience required.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required or directed by the Supervisor.
- Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into truck.
- Containers may be staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete service.
- Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into truck hopper.
- Assist driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
- Notifies the Supervisor/Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notifies Supervisor or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate with the driver on each route
- Navigate through traffic and busy intersections
Six (6) months of prior work experience required.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 pounds frequently.
- Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
- Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens during training. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
- Hearing: Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel
- Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
- Walking: Able to walk through the shop and other outside elements, must be able to walk down street and dirt paths on route.
