Radiologic Technologist

GoHealth Urgent Care

Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The RT performs and analyzes patient x‑rays and reports results to Medical Providers and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and analyze x‑ray services for patients of all ages, under the direction of the clinical provider.
  • Ensure correct positioning and protection of patients during x‑ray procedures.
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow and prepare patients for examination, including interview, medical history verification, vital signs assessment and escalation of critical cases.
  • Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide results to providers.
  • Maintain medical records, scan charts, and perform daily equipment controls and calibrations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot equipment, and submit repair tickets.
  • Collaborate with ordering provider to determine appropriate radiographic views for accurate diagnosis.
  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment and manage supplies.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and apply ALARA principles.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures.
  • Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Skills
  • Position patients properly for x‑ray procedures.
  • Identify equipment problems and notify supervisor.
  • Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of x‑ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary for x‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards commonly encountered in radiology.
