Data Center Chief Engineer – AWS (Military Community) Job ID: 10395377 | Amazon Data Services, Inc. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities‑related issues and oversee operation of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers and cooling towers. Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within internal Service Level Agreements. Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and collaborate with the Facility Manager to set team culture. Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams. Assist in the build‑out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency. Work outside normal business hours for maintenance and emergency response. Communicate complex technical information to non‑technical audiences. Coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency. Ensure safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff. Establish building performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance. Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook for daily administrative tasks. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience. 3+ years of mission‑critical facilities experience, including industrial electrical and mechanical systems in settings such as hospitals, military, or public‑safety facilities. Experience reading, writing, and troubleshooting procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings. Preferred Qualifications Experience in data center engineering or operations. Experience in construction or project management. Experience leading technical teams through daily operations and maintenance evolutions. Comfortable working in environments that involve walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.
