Plasma Center Nurse - LPN

Job Description Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) report to the Plasma Center Manager and support plasma center operations. The role determines donor eligibility, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable test results. The specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs; follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when necessary, providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate credit from a recognized nursing program with state requirements. Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN). Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy. Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting. Compensation & Benefits Summary USA – VA – Chesapeake Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. The actual wage may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Wage offered will comply with state or local minimum wage requirements.
