Coating Operator

Under the direction of and reporting to the Extrusion Coating Lead, the Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating Extrusion Coating equipment to produce high-quality goods in a manner that meets and exceeds customer expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Acts as a safety leader and prioritizes safety in all responsibilities. Collaborates with the Safety Manager to establish and maintain policies and programs that ensure a safe working environment. Complies with all safety and health guidelines, quality standards, procedures, and housekeeping expectations. Meets or exceeds company performance metrics by driving continuous improvement and making informed decisions regarding manufacturing activities and daily planning. Completes equipment setup and operates machinery according to defined specifications for finished products. Performs quality inspections throughout production to ensure conformity to specifications. Enters non-conforming material records into the QMS system. Makes machine adjustments proactively to maintain product within specified tolerances. Works cooperatively with team members to achieve department and work center goals. Accurately documents all production activities. Provides backup support for other positions on the production line as needed. Maintains 6S workplace organization standards. Suggests process, system, or manufacturing improvements. Operates machines at optimal speeds to maximize production efficiency. Identifies and documents equipment or process failures and supports root cause analysis for production issues. Skills & Qualifications: Knowledge of machine operating fundamentals. Proven machine and web converting capabilities required. High school level math skills. Basic computer and order entry skills. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2–4 years of converting and wide web substrate experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to operate tools and equipment. Ability to lift and move objects over 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, color recognition, and focus adjustment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee infrequently works near moving mechanical parts and is infrequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is quiet – hearing protection is required on the manufacturing floor. Protective Clothing/ Equipment Required: Hearing protection, safety shoes, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements must be worn in all manufacturing areas.
