Lecturer - Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Job no: 525535 Work type: Extended Education Instructor Location: Channel Islands Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Temporary, Part Time, Faculty - Health Sciences, On‑site (work in‑person at business location) Program: Nursing Program Rank: Extended University Lecturer Faculty Title: Lecturer - Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing About the Position: To plan, develop and teach prelicensure Nursing Science classes in the clinical setting and campus skills lab. Carry out other lecturer duties including maintaining student records, coordinating clinical instruction and student experiences with clinical personnel, maintaining communication with the university and clinical agencies, participating in curriculum development, CCNE and BRN accreditation activities, and remaining current in subject matter and instructional techniques. Minimum Degree Requirements: A Master's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited institution that includes courses in nursing education. Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess leadership in teaching baccalaureate level nursing and BRN content area, teaching and student learning outcomes evaluation, and a current active California RN license. At least one year of experience teaching psychiatric/mental health nursing courses or related content, and at least two years continuous full‑time direct patient care as an RN (within the last 3 years). Eligibility for the Board of Registered Nurses approval to teach psychiatric/mental health nursing. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and provide evidence of mentoring minoritized students focusing on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to teach psychiatric/mental health across care settings (acute, outpatient, community). Excellent communication and collaborative skills. Flexibility in teaching assignments; experience with clinical, lab, and simulation modalities for diverse learners. Willingness to teach on weekends, evenings, and/or nights. Responsibilities: Teach prelicensure nursing courses and conduct office hours. Assign day, evening, night, and weekend classes and clinical labs.
