This position is a key member of the location’s EHS Team. Job Roles Systems thinker —sees the business and its operation holistically; understands actions and reactions; considers multiple pathways of potential effect before decisions; thinks strategically about interventions with an eye toward scale Optimizer —constantly challenging the organization to work smarter; supports others to ensure they have what they need to do their work successfully Anticipation —looks ahead to minimize potential issues and maximize advantages; prepares others for what comes next Operational accelerator —drives continuous improvement; understands ramifications of automation and other advances; advocates for safety, ergonomics and scalable solutions Organization and structure —works within existing structures while striving to improve and standardize them; provides accurate information; galvanizes others toward common goals Influence —leverages knowledge, relationship, data and perspective to persuade, educate and navigate; gains buy in and adoption of ideas and practices at scale; interacts with a variety of stakeholders Data informed —focused on things that drive quantifiable business outcomes; evaluates based on quantitative feedback; knows and explains the “why” behind actions Prioritized reaction —handles the unexpected without losing sight of important objectives; reacts where greatest leverage points exist Relationship —connects individually and with teams across shifts and practices; builds rapport and commonality; creates a “win together” ethic; serves as liaison between shop floor and engineering; keeps the pulse of the floor; helps people feel heard This position will spend up to 75% of time focused on Environmental projects Job Responsibilities : Maintain a culture that is aligned with Howmet’s EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements Manage, direct, coach, lead and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner Assist in the development and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs and activities to achieve, maintain, and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with Howmet policies, standards, and procedures Manage environmental issues, regulatory reports and permits as related to following disciplines: Air, Wastewater, Storm Water, Chemical, and Waste Disposal/Recycling. This includes responsibility for the timely and accurate filing of necessary records to demonstrate compliance with applicable federal, state, and Howmet programs such as sustainability, as assigned Drive environmental stewardship through the development and execution of management systems designed to ensure compliance with all Howmet and governmental regulations Lead environmental permit review requirements to maintain compliance and interface with regulatory agencies Maintain all records and documents as necessary Evaluate production and equipment changes to ensure environmental requirements are sustained or improved upon Develop and deliver EHS compliance training. Manage and/or perform hands‑on monitoring and measurement While supporting rapid growth the aerospace industry, lead cross functional teams to implement environmental improvement projects, while ensuring no adverse risk to health and safety Evaluate processes to optimize, minimize, or eliminate waste and reduce water usage, thereby driving corporate and business‑unit sustainability goals while developing best practices Lead contractor management of the wastewater treatment and discharge program Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution 3 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or similar environment Experience with supporting health and safety programs Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 5 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or similar environment Experience with computer systems such as spreadsheets and technical applications Ability to read, analyze, and interpret EHS regulations and standards and other technical reports and data TRI and Tier 2 reporting experience Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and employees Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete requirements in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State of Michigan and local regulations About Us Howmet Aerospace Inc.
