POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always home to 68 residents. The Nurse Manager is responsible for supervision of healthcare staff and delivery of cared in support of The Center's goal of achieving a truly homelike environment in which MCC residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Nurse Manager is charged with championing The Mary Campbell Center's Guiding Principles and mission in a manner that ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations while meeting the specialized needs of residents. The Nurse Manager must be a positive role model who works effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, staff, families, volunteers, professional consultants, and the physical environment of The Center. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The Nurse Manager at the Mary Campbell Center must: 1) be a good person of high character who demonstrates compassion and understanding, consistently works with a positive attitude and advocates effectively on behalf of residents who have varying degrees of disabilities, and 2) be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current R.N. license in the State of Delaware, BSN preferred; have three to five years clinical nursing experience in an acute, long-term care, or rehabilitation experience; and two to five years of successful, documented managerial experience. The neighborhood Nurse Manager must also have documentable effective leadership ability; excellent verbal and written communication skills; be CPR and PALS certified; have demonstrated assessment, problem solving and organization skills; and demonstrate proficiency in utilizing technology tools to manage resident health reporting and achieve individual, department and mission goals. On call every other weekend. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans, implements and evaluates the health care provided to residents in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act for the State of Delaware. Directly supervises neighborhood nurses and resident care technicians. Communicate all necessary correction(s) to DON and ADON. Engages in daily and frequent contact with all Neighborhood Nurses to assess and manage nursing care activities for residents as needed. Meets and maintains open communication with the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing, QAPI manager and Staff Educator on a daily basis.Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Team to implement program plans according to resident schedules.Establishes and maintains effective communication with DON, ADON, residents, families, personnel, therapeutic consultants, and physicians of the Center.Serves as an authorized staff member during the shift to respond to questions, complaints, family questions/concerns or State Agency inquiries.Responsible for reporting allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation to the Division of Health Care Quality as per procedures.When necessary, contacts the Administrator on Call and/or Manager-On-Duty for management/administrative issues; Maintenance-On-Call for building issues or problems, Technology-on-Call for technology issues and the Transportation Coordinator for transportation needs.Adheres to and ensures compliance with Center policies and procedures.Serves in an on-call capacity for Health Care needs or emergencies.Assists residents with meals as needed.Maintains current and updated knowledge of and adheres to State and Federal licensing and nursing regulations.Participates in continuous QAPI program. Conducts routine health care audits to include weights, nail care, wheelchair cleanliness, room standards, etc. Prepares Quantitative summary reports.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with residents, families, personnel, therapeutic consultants, and physicians of the Center.Ensures that required documentation is maintained and current according to Center procedures, licensing regulations, and State and Federal regulations.Accurately documents and reports ANM incidents involving residents or staff to the DLTCRP in accordance with MCC Policy & Procedures.Develops and updates resident's health care plans, and coordinates the completion of required assessments, including comprehensive functional assessment, monthly summaries and documentation related to each resident's IPP.Ensures that accurate documentation for neighborhood is recorded in Sigma Care and on other required reports and flow sheets.Monitors and controls the usage of equipment and supplies within the neighborhoods.Attends required staff and resident meetings.Assists in the orientation and training of new health care personnel, including RCTs.Ensures that R.N. license remains current through accumulation of relevant training and continuing education.Utilizes the electronic systems (Sigma Care, DHIN, EZMAR and email) in communicating, storing, and retrieving necessary documentation.Assists the Director of Nursing and the Assistant Director of Nursing with input for evaluations for Health Care staff on the neighborhoods.Assesses the training needs of neighborhood staff and coordinates with Staff Educator. Performs work competently, compassionately and with focus on quality care and continuous improvement.Performs all other duties as assigned.
